This week we sat down with Kelleen our team captain from Kelleen Kreations and got to know her and her shop.

Can you tell us a little about yourself and what you create?

I'm from the beautiful state of Washington and live about 20 minutes of downtown seattle. My shop Kellen Kreations is filled with custom children's clothing, including girl's peasant dresses, 3-tiered twirl skirts and girls aprons. My shop also offers kitchen accessories including pot holders, drink coasters and women's aprons.

How did you come about wanting to open a shop on Etsy? About 3 1/2 years ago, my college roommate was getting married and loved everything to do with cherries. For a wedding gift, I sewed her a cherry theme apron, along with cherry placemats, pot holders and drink coasters, she absolutely loved them! At the time, I decided to open my own Etsy shop and feature primarily aprons and kitchen accessories. After a while, I then added little girl dresses and skirts.

What do you like to do in your free time when you are not working on your Etsy shop? Off time finds my husband and I relaxing and enjoying time together, participating in a variety of shared activities: gym time at least three times a week, daily walks with our dachshund, playing tennis, traveling, camping, visiting family, cooking, reading, and watching favorite TV show and movies. 

What is your most popular product you sell? 

My best selling item seems to be my little girl aprons, especially sewn from cupcake prints. 

How long have you been practicing your craft or art? I have always been around a sewing machine, as my mom sewed many of my clothes when I was little. I took a sewing class when I was 10 yr. old and continued to sew on my own until high schoool. I then took the sewing portion of the Home Ec as an elective in high school and then went on to college for fashion design

This week we sat down with Marica from Sewcial Studies 101 and got to know her and her shop.

Can you Tell us a little about yourself and what you create? 

I am a retired high school assistant principal and former Spanish teacher. I live in a northern suburb of Detroit with my engineer husband. Our two boys are grown and out of the house -- one in AnnArbor, MI, and the other in Columbus, OH.

My items are sewn and pieced table runners, napkins, lap quilts, pillow covers, and upcycled t-shirt scarves. All of my creations are OOAK and I never replicate any. So, buying something from me means that no one else will ever have one just like it! 

How did you come about wanting to open a shop on Etsy? I decided to open an ETSY shop when I retired and wanted a new direction. My closets were overflowing with quilts that I had made and I decided to try to part with a few of them. (My family members already had at least one of my creations, and I was running out of space.)

What do you like to do in your free time when your not working on your Etsy Shop? When I am not sewing, I love to scrapbook, gardening, and read.

What is your most popular product you sell? My most popular item is the upcycled t-shirt scarf. I have made several special orders, as well as hundreds that have already sold.

How long have you been practicing your craft or art? I have been sewing since grade school, when my grandmother began to teach me.

This week we sat down with Christina from Jana's Posh Pieces and got to know her and her shop.

Can you tell us a little about yourself and what you create?

Hi Christi Here. Jana's Posh Pieces N CJD is inspired by my sweet girl Jana Lynn who you can see in my may pics of my work here on Etsy and Facebook as well. I am 36 yrs. old, recently divorced, and a WAHM who is just trying to do her best for her girl's future.

How did you come about wanting to open a shop on Etsy?I always loved buying homemade items and materials from shops on Etsy so I decided I should start one as well :)

What do you like to do in your free time when you are not working on your Etsy shop? I spend every second of my spare time with my sweet girl Jana. We love to do crafts and play board games the best :)

What is your most popular product you sell? Ruffled and bubble leggings. They are custom made to fit with measurements given and come in many colors with many options :)

How long have you been practicing your craft or art? Since I was a little girl :) I have been selling my items for 4 years.

Quilted Wristlet Pouch from Phenomenal Women Shop

This tall zippered wristlet pouch is quilted, with strip patchwork, and lots of machine embroidery stitching that gives this bag its unique, quilted style. The three outer fabrics of gray, pale lavender, and cream prints that comprise this lovely case are from the same coordinating colorway, and is fully lined with a flowered tan fabric.

Girls Polka Dot Apron From Kelleen Kreations

Meet Diana: Our Blog Leader

My name is Diana and I am a mother of two based in Chicago.  My love of sewing started as a little girl when my mother purchased my first sewing machine.  But for me creating and designing the patterns is the best part.  I try and keep the patterns simple and easy to follow so that anyone can create their own special toy. I started by creating a teddy bear for one of my sons when he was three. He is much older now and way past the point of wanting it anymore but I still have the teddy bear and consider him a treasured memory. I created a sewing studio out of one of the bedrooms in my home several years ago and it’s my get away when creativity strikes. It’s a total mess of fabric, stuffing, plastic eyes, yarn, fur, glue guns and sewing machines but I love it! I am in my happy place and very grateful when I start a sewing project. It’s so much fun for me to see something new created from start to finish. 

My favorite things to do include movies, concerts, time with my boys and yoga.

Meet Kelleen: Our Team Captain

It's time to meet the captain & founder of this team-

Hi, my name is Kelleen. I live in the state of Washington about 20 minutes south of Seattle. I started my love for sewing when I was 10 yrs. old and have loved it ever since. After graduating high school I decided to pursue a career in sewing.  I ended up getting a associates degree in fashion design from the Art Institute Of  Seattle.  I opened my etsy shop after I made some wedding presents for a friend who was getting married. She ended up really liking the items so I figured why not try & sell them. So in Sep. of 2011 Kelleen Kreations was opened. At first Kelleen Kreations was just making kitchen accessories but I wanted to broaden my area and that's when the children's line came about.

Some of my favorite interests, that is when I'm not working on esty, are, playing with my dachshund Mini, going to parks, spending time with my husband, watching tv, listening to music, going to the gym, camping or even hiking.
